Mind Over Body

What a gift that has grown here in Northeast Ohio, founded and brought to us by Angelo Reboira and his drive to help other nonspeakers receive the gift of Communication. In July of  2021 Mind Over Body became a business of two families, the Custers and Reboiras; who partnered and  took action to bring innovative therapies and Spelling to Communicate to others in the Greater Cleveland Area.

Mind Over Body Gym is dedicated to breaking down communication barriers for people living with apraxia in our community. Our organization is passionate about creating a paradigm shift for non-speaking, unreliably speaking, and minimally speaking individuals. We believe the brain to body disconnect begins with biomedical research and innovative technology to make communication easier and allow each individual the chance for age and grade appropriate education opportunities. We have been in business for a year and a half and are excited about the foundation we are setting. 

Currently, there is a significant gap in support and resources for the apraxic community. Many individuals with apraxia struggle to communicate effectively, limiting their ability to express themselves and engage with the world around them. Mind Over Body Gym aims to bridge this gap by providing specialized coaching and support to help these individuals connect their brains to their bodies and tap into their brilliance.

What sets us apart:

Mind Over Body comprises several programs. Beginning with the training needed Spelling to Communicate and Motor Coaching develop the motor skills necessary to spell on an alphabet letterboard and transition to a keyboard for communication. This allows individuals to start  using their gross motor skills versus fine motor skills to communicate. This unique approach allows individuals to communicate effectively, opening up new opportunities for communication, education and community outreach. Gaining fluency on the letterboard, and strengthening the brain to body connection, myelinates new neural pathways and builds praxis. Our goal is for each individual to develop autonomy for everyday tasks and overall better quality of life.

As a result the Intensive Prep Program was developed to provide communication, regulation, and education for individuals who have gained the ability to communicate through spelling with the use of a letterboard or keyboard. This program aims to create relationships with communication partners and offers age-appropriate education for individuals who are homeschooled. The program provides a customized schooling experience for each child, ensuring they receive one-on-one attention and support.

Overall, the Mind Over Body gym program offers a comprehensive approach to empower individuals that are nonspeaking, unreliably, minimally speaking and motor challenged to openly communicate and receive education in a supportive environment. By focusing on both communication and education, the program aims to improve the quality of life and opportunities for individuals with communication needs within the community.
